HD1 Arrives
Omni’s state of the art double expanding HD truck came into commission late August 08 and travelled from its birth place of Akkermans /DMS in Roosandal, Holland straight to the Faenol estate for a 4 day HD music festival. No sound mobile was required, allowing the entire orchestra mix of 72chs plus to be mixed and laid down to piramix, using the most powerful Calrec Alpha desk built to date, teamed with Omni’s unique Calrec fibre stage boxes. Bryn Terfel who was hosting the event was so impressed, he is rumoured to be including pictures of the production area in his forthcoming book. HD1 drew such attention, we should have sold tickets for entry!
Children’s Choice Awards
For the second consecutive year, Omni was the facilities provider for the prestigious Nickelodeon event which was shot in HD this year. HD2 was used on this event where sound was an enormous operation which Dave Pollock overcame with extreme poise, steering the sound team to success.
Once again, MTV Networks Europe’s Line Producer Andy Derbyshire was left pleased and justified with his choice of OB facility, having personally requested Omni’s services. We very much hope to be involved in this programme for many years to come – there is nothing like the buzz of Children’s TV for adults!
Junior Rugby World Cup 2008
Omni won the contract for resources for this high profile tournament less than 3 weeks before it commenced. With great success, we were able to combine trucks, crew and logistical planning to cover 18 matches over a 3 week period for both domestic broadcasters BBC & S4C as well as for World feed distribution. The standard has been set and we are justifiably proud of our service to our client Indus Sport.
‘Only Connect’ Presentable
Omni’s Studio 1 has just finished recording a series of the highly rated & stylized BBC 4 Quiz ‘Only Connect’ It’s great to see the energy and care taken by the production team in making this programme and reflected by all involved. Heineken Cup (Sunset & Vine)
Omni has been contracted to provide match coverage for Sunset & Vine Cymru’s new Heineken Cup production contract. Involvement in this tournament for Omni staff has been from its conception and the first final in Cardiff. It’s something we pride ourselves on doing well and look forward to a new season with new production challenges
